Early Lead For Calvin Christian Seals Fate For Hopkins Vikings Varsity

Hopkins Vikings Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 7-3 loss to Calvin Christian on Wednesday. Calvin Christian scored on a double by Hunderman in the first inning and a groundout by Ritsema in the second inning.

Hopkins Vikings Varsity knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the first inning, when Carson DeLao doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

Calvin Christian pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning. In the second Ritsemagrounded out, scoring one run.

Calvin Christian scored three runs in the sixth inning. Rush and Hunderman powered the big inning with RBIs.

Ritsema got the start for Calvin Christian. He surrendered two runs on four hits over five and a third innings, striking out ten.

Alex Rewa was on the hill for Hopkins Vikings Varsity. He surrendered four runs on one hit over two innings, striking out four. Braeden Gill and Jake Pals entered the game as relief, throwing four innings and one inning respectively.
