Important Information for Fall Sports and Obligation Cards

Attention All HS and MS Student Athletes and Parents:

There will be a lot of information listed below, please read all of it carefully.

The MHSAA last week announced that the plan for fall sports will be to play HS and MS sports as normal as possible, unless we are unable to continue due to any rise or spike in Covid-19 cases in our region.  With this news we are going to plan on starting fall sports on their originally scheduled dates.  If you do not know these dates please reach out to the coaches of these sports and they will be able to inform you of the dates and times.

Obligations Cards will be required to be on file with the athletic department in order for any student to participate in a sport this school year. Just a reminder that the following items need to be completed and checked off of the obligation card before any student athlete can practice.

1) MHSAA Sports Physical or Student Questionnaire need to be filled out completely with all signatures.  Forms can be found on the athletic website ( under "files & links" tab.  If a student had a MHSAA Physical on file with the school in the 2019/20 school year, they are not required to have a new physical for the 2020/21 school year.  However they are required to fill out a student questionnaire which is also located under the "files & links" tab on our website.

2) Transportation Slip needs to be completed on the back of the obligation card or online

3) Participation Fees need to be paid (HS - $60 first sport, $45 second sport) (MS - $35 first sport,$20 second sport) MS Football, MS Baseball, MS Softball are excluded from these fees and have their own fees associated with those programs.

Due to the current situation we will be having certain dates and times in which we will be collecting the required paperwork for the Obligation Cards, if these dates and times do not work for you please email or to set up an appointment to get the required paperwork completed.  The athletic department will be collecting these documents at the front ticket booths of the Track/Football facility or the HS Main Entrance, the locations are listed with the dates below.  We will provide the obligation cards/transportation slip for you to fill out, but you will need to bring the other required information (Physical or Student Questionnaire/Participation Fees) with ALL signatures with you to complete your obligation card on that day. Parents will need to sign all pertinent information prior to the athletic department releasing the obligation card to the athlete.

Obligation Card Dates and Times:

Tuesday, July 28th - 5:00pm-8:00pm (Location: Track/Football Facility)

Tuesday, August 4th - 12:00pm - 4:00pm (Location: Track/Football Facility)

Friday, August 7th - 9:00am - 1:00pm (Location: Track/Football Facility)

Monday August 10th - 1:00pm - 4:00pm (Location: Track/Football Facility)

Wednesday August 12th - 4:00pm - 8:00pm (Location: HS Main Entrance)

With the fluidity of the Covid-19 situation many things may change during the sports season this year, we will do our best to keep all student athletes safe, and take the steps necessary to have our facilities and equipment sanitized and cleaned to the best of our ability.

There will also be questions about the online and in person instruction, and being able to get students to school for practices or games on days where they are not in school for instruction or they are an online learner.  We are working on getting a policy in place to address this situation.  There will be updates coming in this.

Currently our region and school district is in Phase 4 of the Governors Return to School Roadmap, given that, there are limitations on how many spectators we are allowed to have at an event.  In Phase 4 the limitation is to allow 100 spectators at an outdoor event, This would be for FB, Soccer, XC, and Sideline Cheer.  We will start putting together a process for this as well.

In the meantime, any event that is held in our HS Gymnasium or Track/Football Facility is available to live stream via the NFHS network.  You can sign up to live stream our events through, if you do sign up please put down Hopkins as the school you are signing up for and a portion of the fee goes does come back to the school.

In Phase 4 of the Governors Return to School Roadmap any indoor sporting activities are not allowed.  Therefore volleyball would not be allowed to start until our region and school district reaches Phase 5 of the Governors Return to School Roadmap.  Again the situation is fluid and it is possible that things change but currently this is the situation regarding any indoor sporting activities.

If you have any other questions please feel free to reach out to me via email at, I am not in the office everyday yet, but will be soon.  I will try and get back with you as soon as I can.

Again I want to stress that this situation is fluid and can change at any instant, and we will do our best to keep athletics going given what the state and MHSAA will allow.  Please be patient with us as it will be a learning process moving forward.

This message and all necessary paperwork (besides the obligation card/transportation slip, this needs to be filled out in person) has been emailed to all students in grades 6-12.
