Division 3 Regional Finals at Willow Wood (And a Trip to the State Finals!) The girls golf team travelled to Portland Tuesday to play in the regional finals. The event featured 13 of the area's best teams including NorthPointe Christian, Holland Christian, Forest Hills Eastern, Grand Rapids Catholic Central, Allendale, Unity Christian, and West Catholic. The top three teams and the top three individuals not on a qualifying team would earn a trip to the state finals at Ferris State University. Hopkins spent much of the afternoon in the third and fourth-place team spots vying for their first ever finals appearance. Annika Ford and Lily Dehring also spent much of the day fighting for one of the few individual spots up for grabs. After a grueling 6-hour tournament, the team slipped just behind the lead pack to finish 6th, but Lily shot 96 at a tough Willow Wood Golf Club to earn the third and final individual spot at the state finals! As a team we finished just a handful of shots outside the state finals. It is the best finish we've had at regionals and is no small feat given the stiff competition we faced. Lily (96), Annika (101), Emerie (112), and Kennedy (121) contributed scores to the team total. Seniors Lily, Kennedy, and Morgan all helped to make what might have been the last day of the season a fun one. However, Lily made sure Tuesday was not the final day of the golf season. Her personal best score (by 11 strokes!) makes her the first state qualifier for our girls program, and the first for both the boys and girls programs in (at least!) the last 17 years I've been at Hopkins. She will represent Hopkins at Ferris State University's Katke Golf Course on October 16 and 17. Good luck Lily! 2026 Team Highlights & Records Tied 9-hole school record (193) twice! 2nd best 18-hole score ever (399) Best team 9-hole average (207.4) ever! Most pars (82) as a team ever!
