The Vikings traveled to Fruitport on Thursday 8/27 for a big league matchup in the OK Silver. The game was back and forth from the beginning with a 7-7 tie after the first quarter with Fruitport returning a punt for a touchdown and the Vikings answering with a Marek Zapolnik touchdown run. At the half it was the Trojans leading 21-14. The Vikings scored the lone touchdown in the 2rd quarter and after a failed two point conversion that brought the score to 21-20 Fruitport leading entering the 4th. After a long drive Fruitport score and kicked the extra point to go ahead 28-20. The Vikings would respond with a touchdown drive of their own and a successful two point conversion by Blake Schwartz brought the score even at 28-28 with 3:30 remaining in the game. Fruitport put together a great drive making it down into Viking territory with just one minute remaining before Jackson Iciek intercepted a pass over the middle taking it back for the Vikings go ahead score with 49 seconds remaining. The defense would come up with a big 4th down stop just a few plays later capping a great 4th quarter comeback win. The Vikings improve to 1-0 on the season and 1-0 in the OK Silver Conference. Next up is another conference opponent, the Vikings will travel to Comstock Park on September 3rd to take on the Panthers. CP beat NorthPointe Christian 47-31 to open the season, kickoff will be at 7:00pm.
